PROJECTS

SHEMYA ISLAND MISSILE DEFENSE PROJECT

Shemya Island US Air Force Missile Defense Base is located at the end of the chain of Aluetian Islands, Alaska. AFT's turnkey contract included refurbishing the fire detection, suppression, and fire pump systems for the power plant. The severe Alaskan winters required exact scheduling and coordination for material delivery. All equipment shipments were from the US by barge in the short summer months. Startup and construction also had a precise schedule to avoid the sever weather conditions.

ELGIN AIR FORCE BASE

Elgin is a ten-story building containing the world's largest phased array satellite tracking system. On a 45-degree slope, the face has thousands of electronic receivers and transmitters. The building also contains extensive computer systems to maintain information received and transmitted. AFT designed and installed a sophisticated networked fire detection system including voice evacuation.

OLD NAVY DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE

Old Navy Distribution Warehouse totaling 1.6 million square feet gave American Fire Technologies the opportunity for a turnkey contract which included fire protection and security systems. AFT provided the engineering design, equipment, installation, special fire protection for loading dock, conveyors, smoke dampers, HVAC, racks, and security access for over four hundred doors.

CORNING - WILMINGTON, NC

Corning produces fiber optic cable. AFT designed and installed an addressable networked fire alarm system for detection and monitoring with graphic annunciation. AFT also added a voice system for new building additions and a plant wide voice link system. Additionally, AFT designed and installed CO2 systems for the lathe operations.

HARTFORD NUCLEAR WATER TREATMENT PROJECT

The Hanford Nuclear Water Treatment Plant is an environmental facility for cleanup of radioactive groundwater contamination. AFT provided engineering design, equipment and construction management services for the facility wide alarm, detection and voice evacuation systems. The project includes a network system that encompasses over twenty buildings. Project specifications required that each floor in a building be placed on temporary operation prior to final completion of that building.

CHEMICAL WEAPONS DISPOSAL FACILITIES
PINE BLUFF / ABERDEEN / ANNISTON

Contractor - Bechtel, Washington Group

A network system that integrates multiple buildings and other systems included these turnkey projects. These facilities are used to destroy the nation's chemical weapons stockpiles. Special incinerators and abatement processes were protected as well as special handling facilities. The plant wide systems included fire detection, suppression and sprinkler systems.
